How do you use Touring Europe?
Direction & GPS coordinates. Good directions and full contact details provided. Coordinates are printed in the Long and Lat format: 43.69018, 7.15643.
Maps at the back of the book show the locations of campsites against the local town and are colour-coded, red for those open all year (or at least open for 11 months of the year). The campsites are listed alphabetically by town name in each country.
As with all Caravan Club books the details and directions are comprehensive, but you have to learn the 100 abbreviations used to convey all aspects of the campsite directions, facilities and prices.
Campsites are marked on the maps at the rear of each section and each entry gives you the map number and grid reference.
Useful travel information for 21 countries in Europe
The 70 pages of touring information in the front of Caravan and Motorhome Club Touring Europe guide contains all the advice you need before you depart the UK and even details mountain passes, required equipment, speed limits, fuel prices and signs. At the start of each country more specific information is provided. At the rear of each country, maps detail the campsite locations, indicating which ones are open all year. The touring information in the front of the guide is excellent and should not be overlooked. It covers all the necessary subjects of road law, but also a lot of other useful and need to know information about pets, ferries, insurance, money, tolls, mountain pass suitability, and country specific information.
How are the campsites inspected?
Caravan and Motorhome Club Europe users nominate and provide the details of the campsites including costs, opening times, facilities, hook-up amperage, size of site, dogs welcome, shade, levels, local attractions, ambience, etc and excellent directions. The submissions can be as old as 2019. The editors will be on the lookout for closed campsites and other incorrect information.
